Jovaras Saskatoon Berry Harvester

The Jovaras Harvester was originally designed for harvesting black currants but has been reworked to make it specifically adapted to handle saskatoons. Two members of EPSI have many years of experience in equipment design and engineering allowing them to see that some improvements could increase the efficiency of  the harvester. In co-operation with the manufacturer, modifications have been designed and incorporated by Eastern Plains Saskatoons Inc. to improve several aspects of the harvesting. The side sweep was extended to handle the taller saskatoon bushes and now works very well even on fifteen year old orchards. The threshing rotor entrance has been redesigned for better crop flow and the cleaner air flow design was improved to increase separation performance and reduce fan debris plugging issues. The overall machine height was increased to allow for the taller saskatoon bushes.

The amount of acres harvested per hour will vary depending on row spacing with 16 ft rows averaging .88acres/hour and 10 ft rows averaging .55acres/hour. The harvester works with a travel speed of approximately 4800 feet/hour. Two passes are required to complete a row which allows the harvester to complete about 2400 feet of row per hour.
